BEFORE AND AFTERS OF OUR NEW HOME!
WOW! Who freaking knew renovations could be SUCH a headache! Good thing the headache was worth it in the end right? Garrett and I bought our first little condo about a month before we got married! It was so perfect for the stage in life we were in…
When we found out we were pregnant with baby boy we knew we wanted just a little bit more space! The hunt for a house began. We put multiple offers on homes and so many just kept falling through! NOW, we know why…. When we first looked at this house we fell in love with the idea that we could grow into it and raise our kids here. There was plenty of space, a backyard for kids to run and play and I knew with a fresh paint of coat it would totally brighten things up!
Well, it did! But then the carpet that looked totally fine before… With the white paint, it now looked PINK! AH! So, we decided to tear up the flooring and put in the laminate wood + new carpet in the bedrooms. BEST DECISION! Even though it was ROUGH! Garrett and some family members did all the demo work! We decided to hire out the actual floors because we wanted in done right! This is kind of a long-term home for us. Long-story-short we decided to gut the whole house. Keep in mind this was NOT in our original plans! HA! What we ended up doing was this:
-Fresh paint on the main floor + upstairs (Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore)
-Fresh paint on all the cabinets. (Same color as walls)
-Subway tile backsplash in kitchen
-New appliances (YAY for black Friday deals!)
-New carpet upstairs
-New laminate on the main floor
-New baseboards on the main floor
-Shiplap fireplace remodel
-New door + cabinet hardware
When a small project turns into a HUGE project am I right?! AHHHHHHHHH. We lived in the basement for 2 months while all this was happening. No appliances, living out of bags and eating out EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. EVERY. SINGLE. MEAL. Did I mention I am pregnant in the middle of this all? NOT FUN TIMES HA! Now that it’s done though we are SO glad we did it now (not moved in yet, no furniture, no kids) instead of later. It was worth it!
I’m so passionate about making a house a HOME. A place you love to be and that is what this is for us. Now, we are only missing one thing!
